Oh, my goodness! I wonder if you remember my parents? Ed Waters and Martha Spring? They skated at 48th avenue and Sutro's. My Dad used to tell us about running up those stairs - then going for Chinese dinner down on Geary Street. Mom and Dad grew up next door to each other on 26th Ave. between Irving and Judah, graduated from Poly Hi.
