Hi, my Dad was on the SS Himalaya in 1958 - he remembers the ticker tape and gun boat welcome. Alcatraz was open still - is there any record of this? Or newspapers etc - he thinks it was because they were the first ocean liner to circumnavigate the globe the wrong way round..
