D.P.Hurlburt was David Parker Hurlburt, a brother of M.D. Hurlburt. David Parker went to San Francisco after the shipwreck to find out details. He also died working with horses. He died in an explosion of a gasoline lamp in a tent where he was giving a horse taming and trianing exhibition.
