: I would like to the date that Lotta Crabtree contributed Lotta's fountain to San Francisco : (Market Street). It is on the fountain, but I am not near there. Also I would like to know : the date when Luisa Tetrazzini sang there and why? To console survivors of the 1906 Earthquake?
Try these web sites for info on "Lottie's Pump":

The date of Tetrazzini's concert was Christmas Eve 1910 -- four years after the quake. Supposedly she gave the free concert to resolve a contract dispute with Oscar Hammerstein, and gave a free performance for 300,000 appreciative San Franciscans at the base of the fountain.
