My brother John & I lived in Homewood Terrace from 1949 to 1957. They separated John & I (don't know why). He was my whole world. I was sad every day. I lived in 24 (Mrs. Bughner) & 42 (Mrs. Krasnow). Our mother was able to pick us up on Saturday for a visit. If I wet the bed during the week, I was punished & not able to see my mother. The "cottage kids" made fun of me for wetting the bed. I had to carry my wet sheets past them & take them to the basement where I was ordered to wash them by hand. I was 9 yrs old at the time and didn't want to continue living. My memories of Homewood Terrace were those of abuse, bullying & degradation. To this day, my brother & I have an extremely close bond. I am so blessed to still have him in my life.
