Hi Peggy,
I think I stumbled upon the same census you were looking at! It does list a Catherine Healy, and the orphanage listed at the top is the "Roman Catholic Female Orphan Asylum" in San Francisco, CA. I haven't had much luck in finding out more about this orphanage yet, but my search did lead me to your post. I hope this helps!
: In the 1880 census I believe I have found my grandmother living with several other young girls. At the time she was about 11 or so and I notice that the girls in the age range have the notation "at school" I also happen to note a Mother Superior, which would indicate that it might be a Catholic school or orphanage.
: My Aunt alway spoke of a woman, named Healy who influenced her to become a teacher. Catherine Healy is who she is listed as living with. Can anyone shed some light on where this might have been and if any records might still exist.
: Thanks
