Pardoned by the President - Julius LEVY, of San Francisco, convicted of smuggling sigars, and sentenced to one year's imprisonment and a fine of five hundred dollars, has been pardoned by the President. He has been in jail about three months. One reason for his pardon was that the governemnt had no suitable prison in San Francisco in which to confine him

(I posted this because it may be of interest to someone. Cigars was spelled "segars" in the newspaper)
