Does anyone have any background on the express mail service started in 1853 by George Leland and John McCombe? I am researching my ancestor John McCombe who arrived in San Francisco in 1851 from Scotland aged about 24, born in Gibraltar. Is this the same John McCombe? As I am in England I don't have easy access to California libraries!
