I think the name of the place was Cochran's and the Palace was across the street. They could both be entered on Market St and both had stairs going to their 2nd floor pool halls. I didn't think the Palace had a back door and Cochran's did have a side entrance on another street. I used to drive over from the east bay as a kid late at night with some good players and stay all night. It closed and reopened in the 80's I think, but probably closed again.
