That's exactly what I've been doing for a small downtown area circa '52/53 using advertisements I find in GenealogyBank.com in conjunction with the directory for that time period on sfgenealogy.com; it's just time consuming and I can't really make out a logical system, nor do I even know if the young city really even had one at the time.
