Larkspur contractor Suicides in Reservoir
The body of Christopher Muender, 64, a building contractor of Larkspur, was found Monday evening in an abandoned reservoir in Larkspur canyon, where he apparently had committed suicide by drowning, shortly after his disappearance, Saturday morning. Witnesses, who had seen Muender making his way toward the reservoir, led the Sheriff’s office and Larkspur officers to believe that his body might be somewhere in those waters. Preparations were made to dynamite the structure, known at Wright’s dam. Shortly before the fuse was lighted, the body came to the surface. The dam was blown up anyway, as it was claimed to be the breeding place for mosquitos.
Muender left home to work on a house nearby. At 8 o’clock he hung his coat in its usual place and without taking up his tools to work, went to the old reservoir and drowned himself.
All during the day county and Larkspur authorities co-operating and maintained a careful search.
