Nelson H. Hall, 70, Succumbs
Nelson H. Hall of San Rafael, retired employee of Pacific Gas and Electric Co. and member of a pioneer Marin County family, died yesterday in a local hospital after a long illness.
Hall was born and grew up in the old Olema Hotel. The hotel was constructed by his grandfather, John Nelson, who drove the stage coach to Olema in the early 1860s. The hotel was operated by his uncle, Edgar Nelson, when Hall was born 70 years ago. The hotel, which withstood the 1906 earthquake, was condemned on April 19 by the Marin County Board of Supervisors.
Hall left Olema when he was 20 and went to work for PG&E. He retired five years ago after 45 years service.
He was a member of the Pacific Service Employees Association, Fairfax Masonic Lodge, past Toparch of the San Rafael Sciots and Marin Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret N. Hall of the home at 36 Gloria Drive; a daughter, Marilyn Holloway of Harrington Park, N.J.; a sister, Beatrice Arnsburg of San Francisco and two grandchildren.
Inurnment will be private.
Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society would be preferred by the family.
