MARY E. FELL

Mary E. Fell, a resident of Nazareth House in San Rafael for the past five years, died yesterday at a local hospital after a long illness. She was 71.

Born in Baldwin, Wis., she lived in the Midwest before moving to San Mateo in 1957 and to San Rafael in 1965.

A registered nurse, she studied nursing in South Bend, Ind., and lived in the Chicago area until 1950 when she moved to Davenport, Iowa.

In the Iowa city, she taught first aid for the Red Cross during World War II and taught third grade in a local school. She was a nursing teacher in the Chicago area.

Mrs. Fell was a member of the Daughters of Isabelle in Davenport and the Third Order of St. Francis in Burlingame.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph A. Fell of Nazareth House; two brothers, William McGinley of New Richmond, Wis., and Sylvester McGinley of Piffard, N.Y., and a sister, Sister Myrone McGinley, Order of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, Minn.

Requiem Mass will be offered Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Nazareth House chapel. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the same location. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that she was also the sister of the late Abbot Girard of the Trappist Monastery, Piffard, N.Y.
