CHARLES J. MATTOS
A funeral service for Charles J. Mattos, a San Jose resident who was a native of Marin, will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday at Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley.
He died at a San Jose hospital on Tuesday. He was 73.
Mattos had lived in Bolinas before moving to San Jose about two years ago. He had previously lived in Mill Valley for many years.
Mattos was a truck driver for the former American Distillery Co. in Sausalito for 36 years. It was located at the site of the Whiskey Springs condominium development.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Mattos of San Jose; a daughter, Muriel Frenna of San Jose; four sons, Frank Grovers of San Jose, Charles J. Mattos of Novato, Richard K. Mattos of Greenbrae and Victor Mattos of Fairfax; 22 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael.
