IDA M. PETERS
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ida M. Peters of Mill Valley will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mill Valley.
She died at a local hospital today after a long illness. She was 73.
A native of Petaluma, she had owned LaVerne Beauty Shop in Mill Valley for more than 44 years. A daughter now runs the business.
She was raised in Petaluma and then settled in Mill Valley in 1925. Her husband, Antone Peters, died in 1968.
She was a member of the S.P.R.S.I. and the U.P.P.E.C., both of Mill Valley, the Cabrillo Club of Sausalito, the Whistlestop of San Rafael, the Native Daughters of the Golden West of Mill Valley No 231, Our Lady of Fatima Society and the Novato Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Norton of Mill Valley and Doris Jastrow of Petaluma; a sister, Mae Brum of Boyes Hot Springs; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Entombment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The rosary will be said Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial gifts are preferred to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Marin, 77 Mark Drive, Suite 6, San Rafael.
