Wealthy Rancher Succumbs to Injury

The funeral of John S. Dias, wealthy pioneer rancher of Mill Valley, who died in San Francisco Friday from injuries received when he was kicked by a bull, was held last Monday at the Dias home ranch in Homestead.

The deceased occupied a high place in the esteem of many people. He came to Marin county in early manhood from the Azores Islands, located on a Point Reyes ranch and amassed a comfortable fortune. Later he acquired several ranches in the vicinity of Mill Valley, where he had made his home for many years.

He was a prominent member of the I.D.E.S. and the U.P.E.C. and a director of the Bank of Mill Valley. He was but 44 years of age. The deceased was the husband of Ida S. Dias, and the father of James J., Manuel C., John A., Arthur W., Caroline C., Marguerite S., and Alice S. Dias and Mrs. Joseph F. Joseph.

There was a large attendance at the funeral. Following the services at the residence, a requiem high mass was celebrated at the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and interment was made in Fernwood cemetery.
