CYRUS LONDAHL

Cyrus Londahl, former San Rafael High School football coach, English teacher and athletic director, died Wednesday at Lodi Memorial Hospital after an illness.

Londahl, 79, coached in San Rafael from 1934 to 1940 and had a championship team in 1937.

He left San Rafael High School in 1944 for Lodi and taught English and history there until he retired in 1968.

Londahl had been a member of the San Rafael Lions Club.

He was a graduate of Stanford University and had been a football coach in Oakdale, Stanislaus County, before moving to Marin.

Surviving are his wife, Aimee, of Lodi; two sons, Dock Londahl of Walnut Creek and Jan Londahl of Sacramento; a stepdaughter, Barbara Black of Nevada City, Nevada County; a stepson, Bruce Black of Oakland; and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Private family services are pending in Lodi.
