Death Calls For Pioneer Resident
In the eighty-sixth year of her life, Mrs. Helen Mar Atwater, mother of Mrs. Lisbeth Cochrane and Mrs. Jennie Ables, passed away last Saturday at the home of Mrs. Cochrane here after an illness of many months.
She was widely known in this county, her residence for more than 40 years. Up to six years ago she had made her home in Tomales, where she had reared a family. She was the widow of the late Henry Atwater who preceded her in death by many years.
The funeral was held Monday, with services at the Presbyterian Church in Tomales and burial, under the direction of the F. E. Sawyer Company, in the Tomales cemetery.
A large number of sorrowing friends and acquaintances gathered to attend the last rites of the deceased. Many floral tributes were banked near the bier in the church as a part of the silent testimonial of esteem in which this good woman was held. She was the mother of the late Mrs. Clara L. Fletcher and Edward L. Atwater.
