RUTH MARTINEZ

The funeral service for Ruth Martinez, 82, of San Rafael will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael.

Mrs. Martinez, widow of Leo Martinez, died Monday at a local hospital after an illness.

She and her husband had operated Leo's restaurant in Larkspur for many years.

Mrs. Martinez, in her early years, had been a singer and dancer, and left a trust to help young singers and musicians get schooling in their fields.

She had been a longtime resident of Marin and formerly lived in New York.

Burial will be private. Friends prefer that memorial contributions be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael or Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in San Francisco.
