HORACE L. SHADLE
A memorial service for Horace L. Shadle, 72, of San Anselmo, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo.
Shadle, a retired accounting supervisor at San Quentin, died Sunday at a local hospital after a brief illness.
He had worked at the prison for 25 years before he retired in 1970.
He was a past master of Pleasant Lodge 128, Free and Accepted Masons, a past patron of San Rafael Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, secretary of the Marvelous Marin Hi Twelve club, treasurer of Marin Chapter 102, Royal Arch Masons, treasurer of Marin Commandry, Knights of Templar and a member of Islam Temple, Marin Shrine Club, Royal and Select Masters of Calif., and the First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael.
Shadle was a native of Estherville, Iowa, who had been a resident of Marin since 1945.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Shadle of San Anselmo; a son, Sid M. Shadle of San Anselmo; a daughter, Barbara Bates of San Rafael and four grandchildren.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, San Francisco, or a favorite charity.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the father-in-law of Nancy Shadle and Phil Bates.
