THOMAS H. HARRY HILL

A graveside service for Thomas H. “Harry” Hill of Stinson Beach, a Marin resident for almost 20 years, will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Tamalapais Cemetery in San Rafael.

Hill died Monday at a local convalescent hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 90. He was the father of Dorothy Mayfield, the postmistress of Stinson Beach.

He was born in Kansas and spent much of his life in Kansas and Colorado. He was a sales representative for the Continental Oil Co. for 17 years before he and his wife, Amy, operated a hotel and restaurant at a resort in Idaho Springs, Colo.

He moved to Marin about 1954.

Mrs. Hill, a writer, wrote a book about her husband several years ago entitled “Hindsight” which described his life.

He was a member of Idaho Springs Lodge No. 26 of the Free and Accepted Masons, El Gebell Temple of the Shrine and Consistory No. 2 of Denver.

He and his wife celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last month.

Besides his wife and daughter, he is survived by another daughter, Nina Wold of San Leandro; a sister, Lela Fischer of Colorado; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family prefers memorial donations to a favorite charity.
