RALPH W. NIELSEN
A memorial service for Ralph Wilson Nielsen of Kentfield will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Redwoods Presbyterian Church, Larkspur.
Nielsen, who had been fighting a long battle against cancer, died Saturday while on a trip to Solvang. He was 65.
Nielsen retired this spring after more than 40 years in banking; he had been with what is now Wells Fargo Bank for 33 years. He was assistant cashier in the bank’s head office in San Francisco.
He was born and reared in Chicago. He and his wife, Dorothy, met on a train during World War II while both were serving in the Marine Corps. They moved to Marin County in 1950.
Nielsen was an enthusiastic sportsman and was a member of the Marin Rod and Gun Club. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, of the home, and a sister, Betty Nielsen, of Chicago.

An obit was published in the August 4 edition of the paper. New or differing information: his middle name was Winslow, and he was survived by a daughter, Sandra Nielsen of Chicago.
