EVELYN N. WHITTEMORE

Evelyn N. Whittemore, a longtime resident of Fairfax, died Sunday in a local hospital. She was 59.

A native of Colorado, Mrs. Whittemore moved to Southern California as an infant. She came to Fairfax almost 35 years ago where she was active in the Parent Teachers Association and the Cub Scouts.

During World War II, Mrs. Whittemore worked in the Richmond shipyard.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Gather of San Rafael; a son, Ronald Whittemore of Sebastopol; her parents, Hilary and Alta Hopper of Ivanhoe in Tulare County; and her brother, Melvin Hopper, also of Ivanhoe.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo. A funeral is planned for Friday in Tulare County.

The family prefers memorial contributions to your favorite charity.
