Funeral Here For Former Resident
The funeral of Mrs. E. A. Van Dalsem will be held at 3 o’clock this afternoon at the F. E. Sawyer Company’s parlors, under the auspices of the Golden Star Rebekah lodge, of which she was a charter member and the first Noble Grand.
Mrs. Van Dalsem passed away at her home in Martinez Tuesday after a long illness. The deceased was well known here where she had spent most of her life. She arrived here with her parents 50 years ago, at the age of 2 years, and resided here continuously until a few years ago when she moved to Martinez with her husband, who is now head machinist with a ferry company in Contra Costa county.
Mrs. Van Dalsem had been prominent in fraternal circles. In addition to being one of the organizers of the local Rebekah lodge and serving as its first chief officer, she acted later as District Deputy of the section.
She was the daughter of the late Mrs. E. Shoberg and a sister of Mrs. Thomas O’Connor, of San Rafael. She is survived by her husband and three sons, two by a former marriage, Stanley E. and Warren R. Scott, now in the Hawaiian Islands, and Burnell Van Dalsem, of Martinez.
