Colonel Stubbs Passes Away
Colonel J. B. Stubbs passed away at his home on Fourth street Sunday night, after an intermittent illness covering several weeks. He was 74 years of age.
A man of unusual stature and remarkable well preserved, he was extremely active until within the last few months.
Colonel Stuffs came to Marin county following the San Francisco fire of 1906, making his home in Larkspur. Later he removed to San Rafael, where he resided till the end. Before coming to California, Colonel Stubbs had spent much of his time in Washington, D.C., where he was engaged in a supervisorial position over employees on the Capitol grounds. He was also in the contracting business in Washington.
His death leaves a sorrowing widow, and a daughter, Mrs. George B. Sargent.
The funeral was held Tuesday, with services at St. Raphael’s church, and interment at Mt. Olivet cemetery. The burial was under the direction of the F. E. Sawyer Company.
