VIRGINIA STEPHENS

Virginia “Ginger” Stephens of Terra Linda, a Marin resident for many years, died Sunday at her home following a lengthy illness. She was 39.

Mrs. Stephens was a native of San Mateo County, but moved to Marin with her parents in 1943.

She attended St. Anselm’s School and also graduated from high school in Marin.

She worked as a secretary for many years.

She is survived by three daughters, Catherine and Tracy Stephens, both of San Rafael, and Mary Stephens of Novato; her mother, Virginia Bergin of San Rafael; four brothers, William Bergin of San Rafael, Carroll Bergin of Maine, Philip J. Bergin of Japan, and James A. Bergin of Santa Rosa; three sisters, Rita Granados of San Rafael, Patricia LoNano of Massachusetts and Margaret Neese of San Anselmo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Santa Venetia. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. The rosary will be recited tonight at 8 at the Chapel of the Hills mortuary in San Anselmo.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the mortuary.

The family requests memorial donations to Hospice of Marin, 77 Mark Drive, San Rafael.

A Death Notice in the same paper says she was the daughter of the late William Bergin and sister of the late Catherine Bergin.
