Henry C. Clayburgh

Henry Clayton Clayburgh, 80, retired millionaire dog food manufacturer and uncle of Martin Clayburgh of San Rafael, died Sunday at his club in Oakland after a long illness.

A native of Chicago, Henry Clayburgh came to Oakland in the early 1920s and founded the Calo Dog Food company. He sold his interest and retired 10 years ago.

He was for some time president of the Natioanl Association of Dog Food manufacturers and an officer in the Oakland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

He is survived by four nieces, Edith Monash of Chicago, Blanche Slasenger of New York, Florence Gramtquist and Carolyn R. Darro of San Francisco, and his nephew.

Following cremation, the deceased’s ashes will be sent to Chicago for inurnment.
