MARTIN C. MARTINSEN
Martin C. Martinsen, a resident of Novato, died Saturday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 86.
A native of Santa Barbara, he moved to a Novato convalescent home recently. Prior to then, he was a longtime resident of San Luis Obispo.
He was an instructor of aeronautical engineering at California State Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, before retiring in 1957.
He was a member of the Masons in Santa Barbara and was very active with the DeMolays in San Luis Obispo. He was also a member of the American Legions.
Survivors include his wife, Marian Martinsen of Novato; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Moroski of Novato and Mrs. Doris Hedlund of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Birger Martinsen of Alaska; and a sister, Mable Purdum of Santa Barbara; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato. He will be buried in San Luis Obispo.
