Thomas O’Toole died at 61
Thomas Raphael O’Toole, a life-long San Rafael resident and a businessman and civic leader, died Wednesday at Kaiser Hospital in San Rafael. He was 61.
Mr. O’Toole was a co-owner of Milani’s Garage, served on the San Rafael Planning Commission for many years and ran for City Council in 1971 and 1973.
Mr. O’ Toole graduated from San Rafael High School and served in the Navy during World War II as a petty officer and saw duty in the South Pacific.
He was a member of San Rafael Council No. 10 of the Young Men’s Institute, San Rafael Elks Lodge and Foresters of America.
Mr. O’Toole is survived by his wife, Clementina C. O’Toole; two sons, Thomas R. O’Toole Jr. and Mark J. O’Toole; a sister, Catherine Milani; and a brother, Peter O’Toole.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Sylvester’s Church in San Rafael. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael. The rosary will be recited today at 8 p.m. at St. Sylvester’s Church.
His family asked that memorial contributions go to Nazareth House, 245 Nova Albion Way, Dominican Convent, 1520 Grand Ave., or the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room, all in San Rafael.
