ROSS M. THORNTON
A funeral will be held in Oklahoma for Ross Merle Thornton of Tulsa, Okla., a former Marin County resident.
He died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home. He was 70.
He was born in Fort Gibson, Okla.
He came to Marin after World War II, settling in Olema. He lived there for many years until moving back to Oklahoma about 20 years ago.
His mother, the late Stella Sundberg, owned and operated Sundberg’s Inn in Olema, now the site of Jerry’s Farm House, a restaurant.
Mr. Thornton was a retired carpenter.
He previously belonged to the Carpenters Union Local No. 35 in Marin County.
Survivors are a son, Thaddeus Thornton of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, William Howard Thornton of San Rafael and Raymond Thornton of Miami, Fla.; and a sister, Julie Raley of Fort Gibson, Okla.
The family prefers memorial gifts to favorite charities.
