DANIEL DOUGLAS PHILLIPS
The funeral for Daniel Douglas Phillips, 81, of Petaluma, former co-owner of Pini Hardware in Novato, was held today at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma.
Mr. Phillips died Friday at Petaluma Valley Hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Round Mountain, Shasta County.
He was reared and educated in Marin County, graduating from San Rafael High School.
In 1933, Mr. Phillips married Mary McFaul in Petaluma. They were residents of Novato before coming to Petaluma in 1945. Mr. Phillips was a co-owner of Pini Hardware in Novato for more than 35 years before retiring 14 years ago.
For many years Mr. Phillips was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Petaluma. He later joined the Neighborhood Church of Petaluma.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Mary Phillips of Petaluma; a daughter, Elaine Wellsfry of Loomis, Placer County; a son, Donald H. Phillips of Penngrove; four brothers, Charles, Russell and Richard Phillips, all of Petaluma, and Linnie Neal of Sonoma; and four grandchildren.
Burial will be at Cypress Hill Memorial Park.
The family prefers memorials be made to the Building Fund of The Neighborhood Church, 721 S. McDowell Blvd., Petaluma, or to a favorite charity.
