GERALDINE RYAN HICOX
A private service will be held for Geraldine Ryan Hicox, an anthropologist and longtime Mill Valley resident.
Ms. Hicox, 63, died Saturday at Marin General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
A public memorial service will be scheduled in about a month.
She was born in Denver, Colo., and came to San Francisco as a child. She had lived in Mill Valley since about 1955.
She belonged to the Sierra Club and traveled extensively. She was active in political and community affairs and appeared before the Marin County Board of Supervisors often to speak for various organizations.
Ms. Hicox is survived by a sister, Veronica Ubhaus of Petaluma.
The family prefers memorial donations to David Salnicker, station manager, KPFA radio station, 2207 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley 94704.
