WILLIAM YOUNG

William B. Young, 86, of 2300 Las Gallinas Avenue, Marinwood, died in a Novato convalescent hospital Saturday after a long illness.

He was chief probation officer of San Joaquin County for 24 years until retirement in June, 1948.

A native of Tennessee, he had lived in Marin County with the family of his son, Raleigh G. Young, for the past five years.

He was a member of the Mill Valley Baptist Church and deacon emeritus of the First Baptist Churches of Stockton and Red Bluff. Young is survived by his son and two grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Martin Funeral Home, 445 North American Street, Stockton, with Rev. John A. MacDonald of the Mill Valley Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Stockton Rural Cemetery.
