JOHN J. ROBINSON
A funeral was to be held today at Congregation Rodef Sholom in San Rafael for John Robinson, a pianist and longtime San Rafael resident.
Mr. Robinson, a native of London, England, died unexpectedly Monday at Kaiser Hospital in Terra Linda. He was 72.
He came to Mill Valley in 1967 and moved to San Rafael a year later.
He had worked as an entertainer at private parties in Marin and at the large hotels in San Francisco. For five years he had played piano at the Silverado Country Club in Napa and also worked at the Mayflower Inn in San Rafael.
His music often was heard at private parties at Dominic’s Harbor Restaurant in San Rafael.
“He was very gentle and respected among his colleagues,” said his wife, Susi.
He was a member of Musicians Union Local No. 6.
He is survived by his wife, Susi; a daughter, Lynn Felicity Robinson of San Francisco; a sister, Sarah Barrot of San Rafael; and a brother, Harry Robinson of Portugal.
