JOHN P. KAMPMEYER
John P. Kampmeyer Jr., a longtime Tiburon resident and newspaper advertising executive, died Monday at his home after a long illness. He was 59.
Before he retired, he worked in advertising for the Hearst Corp. in San Francisco.
Mr. Kampmeyer, a native of Sioux City, Iowa, was a graduate of the University of Iowa and served in the Navy in World War II.
He lived in Denver for a time and worked for the Denver Post.
When he came to the Bay Area, he managed the advertising department for the New York Times in San Francisco before joining Hearst. At one time, he also worked for a firm that represented the Marin Independent Journal.
He has lived in Tiburon for 31 years.
Survivors are his wife, Gee; a daughter, Lisa Kampmeyer of San Rafael; and a son, John Kampmeyer III of San Rafael.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Hilary’s Catholic Church in Tiburon.
