HAZEL YATES
Hazel Yates, a longtime San Rafael resident, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1987, at Rafael Convalescent Hospital at the age of 83.
She was born in Missouri and moved to Long Beach with her parents when she was a young girl. She and her husband, Emerson Yates, lived in various parts of California before moving to Marin during World War II. Mr. Yates died three years ago.
Mrs. Yates was active in the San Rafael chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a founder of the Eastern Star cancer dressing station.
She worked at Hamilton Air Force Base during the war.
Survivors are two nephews and a niece.
Private services were conducted at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael. Inurnment was private.
