LEE CARL JOHNSON
Lee Carl Johnson, a longtime resident of San Rafael, died Wednesday, July 6, 1988, at Kaiser Hospital in San Rafael. He was 61.
Mr. Johnson was born and raised in Mill Valley, where he attended grammar schools and Tamalpais High School. He was later a student at College of Marin in Kentfield.
Mr. Johnson served as a Marine in the Pacific during World War II.
He moved to San Rafael in 1968.
Mr. Johnson owned the Bret Harte Market in San Rafael for 25 years, which his family still operates. His father, H. Walter Johnson, owned t he Mill Valley Food Mart in Mill Valley.
Mr. Johnson was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the Masonic Lodge in Mill Valley, the American Legion and the California Waterfowl Association.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Johnson of San Rafael; two sons, Carl Johnson and Eric Johnson, both of San Rafael; a daughter, Kathryn Johnson of Fresno; his mother, Katharane Johnson of San Anselmo; a sister, Kharvina Johnson of San Anselmo; and a brother, Burbeck Johnson of Washington.
No service is planned at this time.
