ROSE BYOFF SHAPIRO
Owned beauty salons
Rose Byoff Shapiro of Mill Valley, a former hair stylist and longtime Marin resident, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 1990, at CareWest Bayside Convalescent Hospital in Kentfield following a brief illness. She was 89.
Mrs. Shapiro was born in Siberia. She came to the United States when she was 8, living in Seattle before coming to California. She had resided in Corte Madera and Mill Valley for 27 years.
She owned and operated three beauty salons in San Francisco.
Survivors are a daughter, Nena Peterson of Caucos, San Luis Obispo County; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. Her husband, Jack, and two sons, Samuel and Walter Byoff, died earlier.
A Panahiea service, a Russian Orthodox rosary, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Daphne Funerals Marin mortuary in Corte Madera. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the mortuary.
