STANLEY W. McDONALD

A Mass of Christian Burial for Stanley W. McDonald of Petaluma will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Petaluma.

Mr. McDonald, a longtime West-America Bank vice president, died Sunday at Petaluma Valley Hospital. He was 63.

Mr. McDonald retired last year due to ill health after a 24-year career with the bank and its predecessors.

He was born in Petaluma and was reared in Tomales, where his family was among the early settlers.

During World War II, Mrs. McDonald served in the Army and received the Purple Heart, Silver and Bronze Stars. He rose to the rank of first sergeant before completing his military service.

He returned to the family ranch before starting his banking career in 1958. Mr. McDonald worked for the First National Bank in San Rafael and Crocker National Bank in Petaluma before joining the Bank of Marin, now WestAmerica Bank.

Mr. McDonald had risen to the rank of vice president and manager of the Petaluma Main Branch.

He also served 16 years on the Sonoma-Marin Fair Board.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Petaluma Elks Lodge, Petaluma Host Lions Club, Nicasio Parlor of Native Sons of the Golden West, Order of the Purple Heart, Petaluma American Legion post and the Petaluma Holy Ghost Society.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn D. McDonald of Petaluma; a daughter, Cynthia A. Devlin of Petaluma; a son, Barry D. McDonald of Petaluma; his mother, Stella McDonald of Petaluma; a brother, Mervin McDonald of Petaluma; a sister, Shirley Silva of Petaluma; and two grandchildren.

Recitation of the rosary will be today at 7 p.m. at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma. Friends may call there today.

Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Petaluma. His family prefers that contributions be made to the Heart Association of the Redwood Empire, Box 844, Santa Rosa, 95402, or a favorite charity.
