Marin man killed in Doyle Drive crash

A San Anselmo man was killed last night on Doyle Drive after the car he was driving crossed over the center dividing line and collided with two cars.

Steven Leonard, 30, died at San Francisco General Hospital following the 11 p.m. accident. He had been driving a 1980 Pontiac southbound on Doyle Drive near 19th Avenue.

When his car crossed the center line, it collided with a 1984 Toyota driven by 44-year-old Carol Spencer of San Francisco. The impact threw both cars into the path of a Cadillac driven by Richard B. Chapman of San Rafael. Chapman was uninjured, but Spencer suffered major head and abdominal injuries.

She is being treated at San Francisco General Hospital.

Police do not know what caused Leonard’s car to cross the dividing line. They will inspect the vehicle for possible mechanical defects.

Doyle Drive was closed for about 30 minutes following the crash.
