LAURENCE L. DEAN
Laurence L. “Larry” Dean, a longtime Novato pharmacist, died Friday at a convalescent hospital in Petaluma. He was 79.
Mr. Dean owned and operated Dean’s Rexall Drug Store on Grant Avenue from 1947 until his retirement in 1968.
He was born in Ukiah and reared in Petaluma. He attended the University of California School of Pharmacy, passing his pharmacy boards in 1929.
Before moving to Novato, Mr. Dean worked in Petaluma at Tuttle Drugs, L & M Drugs and Dalhgren’s Drug Store. He returned to Petaluma last May when he entered a convalescent hospital.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Novato.
His wife, Grace Dean, died in August of 1975.
He is survived by a son, Terry Dean of Davis; two sisters, Dorothy Petersen of Petaluma and Eleanor Hansen of Santa Rosa; and three grandchildren.
At the request of his family, no service will be held. Private entombment was at Cypress Hill Memorial Park in Petaluma.
His family asked that memorial contributions to a favorite charity.
