ROBERT W. MORRISON
A memorial service for Robert W. Morrison of Belvedere, a San Francisco tax attorney and one of the state’s top Masons, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Belvedere.
Mr. Morrison, a 23-year resident of Belvedere, died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital in San Francisco after a long illness.
He was 62.
He was born in Bradford, Pa.
Mr. Morrison was a tax specialist with the San Francisco law firm of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro. He had worked for the firm for 30 years until illness prevented his working.
He was a member of the San Francisco and American bar associations.
Mr. Morrison was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Wharton School of Business and earned his law degree in 1951 from Columbia Law School in New York. He had been named to Phi Beta Kappa fraternity at Columbia.
He was one of the state’s top Masons, having served as potentate of Islam Temple Shrine in 1978 and several years as chairman of the board of the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in San Francisco.
He was a member of Union Lodge of the Masons and the Royal Order of Jesters.
Mr. Morrison served in the Air Corps during World War II, and continued to serve in the Army reserves after the war. At one time, he was on the staff of the judge advocate general’s staff at the Presidio of San Francisco.
In 1980 he retired with the rank of colonel.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Morrison of Belvedere, and two sons, Robert W. Morrison Jr. and Thomas T. Morrison.
His family asked that memorial gifts go to the Shriners Hospital.
