RUTH M. BROWN

A private service will be held later at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael for Ruth Marie Brown, 89, of San Rafael.

Mrs. Brown died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1987, at CareWest Bayside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kentfield after a short illness. She was 89.

She was born in San Francisco, where she lived all her life before moving to Kentfield two months ago.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker. She was active with the Patent-Teacher Association while her children were young.

“She was always proud she was a survivor of the great earthquake and fire,” said her son, Norman W. Brown of San Rafael.

He recalled that her family had to move into Golden Gate Park for a while after the 1906 quake.

Her husband, Harold Brown, a San Francisco policeman, died in 1982.

In addition to her son, she is survived by seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be private.

A Death Notice in the same paper mentions her late son, William Brown; daughters-in-law, Catherine and Evelyn Brown; she was the sister-in-law of Elsie Dutil and the late Emil Dutil and the late Walter Brown; aunt of Emil, Albert, Donald and the late Bertram Dutil.
