Dr. B. H. LIBIEN

Services for Dr. Benjamin H. Libien of Terra Linda, medical director of the Parkway Convalescent Hospital in San Rafael, will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Sinai Memorial Chapel in San Francisco.

Libien died Wednesday at his Terra Linda home. He was 69.

A native of New York City, Libien came to Bakersfield in 1959 to work as an anesthesiologist at Mercy Hospital from 1959-71. He then worked at the Kern County Hospital in Bakersfield from 1973-74 before leaving Bakersfield for Terra Linda because of an illness.

Libien, a physician for 41 years, had been director of the Parkway Convalescent Hospital for the past six months.

Libien received is medical degree from the University of Louisville, Ky, in 1934.

He was a member of the Congregation Kol-Shofar synagogue in San Rafael.

He is survived by his wife, Hanna; three sons, Dr. Stephen Libien of Mill Valley, James R. Libien of Terra Linda and Arthur E. Libien of Australia; two sisters, Selma Bernstein and Miriam Sheppard, and three grandchildren.

Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael following the services.
