MARIE H. THORNTON
Marie H. Thornton, mother of Fairfax Fire Chief Charles M. Thornton, died yesterday at a local hospital after a long illness. She was 86.
A native of San Francisco, Mrs. Thornton lived in Marin County for 42 years. Her home was at 88 Taylor drive.
She is survived by three sons, Chief Thornton, James T. Thornton of San Rafael, and Matthew T. Thornton of San Anselmo; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Colma.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that she was the wife of the late Thomas T. Thornton.
