Former Ross Resident Dies in San Francisco
Captain Frederick Matheson, well known marine pilot and former resident of Ross, died in San Francisco last Saturday after a short illness.
Matheson will be remembered in this county through the criminal proceedings here some years ago following charges made against him in connection with the death of his first wife. Mrs. Matheson died from a bullet wound in the back. Matheson was charged with manslaughter, tried and acquitted. Mrs. Matheson made a statement before her death exonerating her husband from blame. Matheson’s son, Jack, died a few months after the trial from injuries received in an automobile accident.
