Laborer Takes Poison and Ends Life
A man supposed to be William McCarthy was found lying beside the track at Larkspur last Friday afternoon and removed to the Emergency Hospital, where he died at 7:30 that evening.
By his side were found two bottles of wood alcohol. Dr. J. H. Kuser performed an autopsy and found that death was due to taking the contents of the two bottles. On h is person was found a printed form denoting that he had applied for and been assigned to a job as a laborer on the tunnel work of the Northwestern Pacific.
Coroner J. Ray Keaton investigated and learned that the man had not reported for work. An effort is being made now by Coroner Keaton to learn the whereabouts of the dead man’s relatives. An inquest will be held.
