JIM T. MIYANO
Funeral for Jim T. Miyano of Petaluma will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the Enmanji Buddhist Temple in Sebastopol.
Miyano, a commercial fisherman, died in a San Francisco hospital Friday after being stricken while fishing in the Pacific. He was 60.
He was a native of Sebastopol and lived most of his life in Petaluma, making his home at 3090 Skillman Lane.
Miyano was a member of the Japanese Citizens League, the Enmanji Temple, Fishermen’s Association of Bodega, and the Sonoma County Civil Defense Squadron. He was a special deputy for the county sheriff’s office and was long active as a boy scout leader.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Miyano; a brother, Sam Miyano of Petaluma, and three sisters, Marlene Masada of Petaluma and Lily Yamamoto and Gladys Ozaki, both of San Francisco.
Final service will be at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Sorensen Funeral Home in Petaluma, and inurnment will be in Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma.
