PETER F. BLAICH
Shipping executive

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Peter F. Blaich of San Rafael, an international shipping executive, will be Nov. 16 in Mill Valley.

Mr. Blaich died at Marin General Hospital Nov. 6 of an aneurysm. He was 52.

Mr. Blaich was born in Sigmaringen, Germany, in 1942. After serving an apprenticeship with an international shipping agency in Bremen, he joined Hapag-Lloyd and was appointed owners representative in 1973. He worked in Hong Kong.

In 1982, Mr. Blaich relocated to San Francisco where he served as a line manager of the Trans-Pacific service. He went on to establish his own operation, which still operates on Pacific and European routes. And he helped launch Pacific Concepts, a company distributing marine equipment.

Mr. Blaich was on the board of the German-American Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the World Trade Club in San Francisco.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Blaich of San Rafael, and his mother, Maria Blaich of Bremen, Germany.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 16 at Fernwood Cemetery, Tennessee Valley Road, Mill Valley.
