CHARLES GERKEN
Charles Gerken, former longtime gardener for the Golden Gate Bridge District, died yesterday in a local hospital after a long illness. He was 73.
Gerkin (sic) lived in Marin County for 30 years, making his home at 409 Locust Street, Sausalito. He worked 17 years for the bridge district before retiring. He was a native of Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife Esther of the home, a daughter, Jeanne Snyder of Mill Valley and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Peace Lutheran Church, Mill Valley. Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
